Week 4:

Diary Entry...

After deciding that the blue, black and white colour scheme worked well as the blue reminded audiences of the south of Italy (which is where Sicily is located) I decided to play around with colour combinations and I chose to use the 'O' that looked like spaghetti rather than the messy illustration on a fork - this looks cleaner and more professional.
I then began looking at the extra typography for things like the menu content. I first looked at the meal title font - preferring serif fonts that had some interest. Then I liked the subtitle in a very basic sans serif to be legible and not attract too much interest that would distract from the meal title. I ended up choosing the font from the 'orange logo idea' from week 3 as I said then that I would like to try and use it elsewhere in my outcomes. I also at how the meal title could be more interesting...

Here I change the font colour to three different shades of blue to add some interest and make it look more premium and takes the eye along the title. I really like this look as apposed to the plain blue option. So I decided to try this with the main logo...

However, this isn't my final logo as I would like to print this out and sketch over it to make it more unique and clean - this was just to see how the different shades of blue could look on the logo...

Here I have simply made each letter the different colour. This is hard to visualise but I like it as it takes your eye through the word.

I then made multiple gradient boxes that when joined together went through the three shades multiple times...
Here is the gradient version of the logo - I think it gives it some depth and perspective but I probably won't use this version on every outcome maybe just on the menu and sign but it depends on what suits the outcome.

I then went back to paper to sketch this font in a cleaner and more professional way...

Current logo...
This logo is very messy and uneven as well as the spaghetti 'o' being sloppy. Also, the two 'z's and 'l's are identical which is unrealistic for a signature.

I traced over the logo above, making small changes to make it look more like a real signature that has differences between the same letter characters...

Final logo...
Once scanned in, I live traced it and used the pentel and zoomed very close up to each letter's details to smooth out the lines, bring the letters closer together and make the spaghetti graphic join to the font. The logo is now much thicker, unique and more legible from a distance.
